I have only killed 1 avr this way, and it was recently. It took me a day or 2 to figure that the Dragon was still OK. Instead, I had destroyerd the M328P so badly that the Draghon could not function if it was still connected. I once screwed up something so badly that I thought I had killed my Dragon. When I can't communicate then it is due to wires that are not connected to the pins I had thought I had used (I have to use female jumper wire to each individual pin).
I have also checked that the supply voltage is within the accepted range on the microcontroller and it is.ĭoes anyone have any ideas to why i cant get in contact with my microprocessor?Īnd thanks for reading this whole message if you have fought your way through it.
To make sure that the supply voltage was ok i even put a tantal capacitor on the VCC to GND pin on the microprocessor. I have tried both with and without an oscillator crystal on the xtal pins. The microprocessor is on a breadboard, and i supply it with voltage, gnd, miso, mosi, and so forth from the isp and voltage headers on the AVR dragon board.

The avr dragon manual says that i should connect to the reset pin, but nothing about it being inverted on the atmega328p. I have looked through the datasheet and found out that the datasheet and the avr dragon manual have two different ways of describing the reset pin. (Can't even set the ISP frequency, erase device, or set fuses) I have now tried for a few days, and still cant get in contact with the microprocessor with the Avr dragon. When i try to connect to the processor i try to do it with the isp pins. I use AVR Studio from atmel, and use their instuctions to connect the microprocessor to the board. I recently bought a nice Avr Dragon board because i wanted to program atmels microprocessors in another way than the way i am used to.
